About SMC Project

Sustainable MED Cities - Integrated Tools and Methodologies for Sustainable Mediterranean Cities, is a capitalization project whose main objective is to enhance the capacity of public administration in delivering, implementing and monitoring efficient measures, plans and strategies to improve the sustainability of cities, neighbourhoods and buildings.

Why to use the SMC Platform

If you are

  • a city decision-maker, an urban planning leader, a local authority officer
  • a designer, a urban planner, an expert

and you need to:

  • set the sustainability goals for your city
  • identify and prioritize the sustainability interventions to improve the performance of your city
  • measure the current level of sustainability at building, neighbourhood or city scale
  • monitor the progress of your projects in achieving the expected goals

the Sustainable Med Cities online Platform enables you to:

  1. develop your own sustainability assessment tool based on the transnational generic versions of SBTool, SNTool, SCTool;
  2. carry out sustainability assessments at building, neighbourhood or city scale using your contextualised tools;
  3. visualize the results of the sustainability assessment.

How to access the SMC Platform - Registration

Two different access roles to the web tool are provided:

  • Owner
    An Owner can develop and manage a contextualised version of SBTool MED, SNTool MED or SCTool MED. It can be a public authority (e.g. a Municipality or a Region) or a private organisation. To obtain access credentials as "Owner" you must fill in this form
  • Assessor
    An assessor can carry out a sustainability assessment using a contextualised version of SBTool MED, SNTool MED or SCTool MED available on the SMC Platform

SMC Assessment System

The SMC Platform is an online tool implementing the SMC Assessment System, making possible to measure the sustainability of Mediterranean buildings, neighbourhoods, and cities. The tools composing the SMC Assessment System (SBTool MED, SNTool MED, SCTool MED) can be contextualized and adapted to any Mediterranean building, neighbourhood and city. The SMC Assessment System is based on the transnational methodology SBE Method of iiSBE.
